The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) Marine Branch intercepted an
overcrowded vessel carrying 207 Illegal migrants during the early hours of this morning.
The vessel was detected and safely intercepted by officers conducting maritime border
operations. All individuals on board were brought ashore without incident and are currently
being processed by the relevant authorities.

Acting Commissioner Grant stated, “This incident highlights the significant risks associated with
irregular maritime migration and the dangerous journeys undertaken by vulnerable individuals,
including children. The RTCIPF remains committed to protecting our borders while ensuring
that every operation is conducted with due regard for the safety, dignity and welfare of those
involved.
I commend the officers and all agencies involved for their swift and professional response, which
undoubtedly prevented what could have been a serious incident.”
The RTCIPF continues to work closely with its local and regional partners to safeguard the
Turks and Caicos Islands’ maritime borders and to deter illegal migration activities.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
