Today, June 12, officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) Marine Branch successfully intercepted an overloaded migrant vessel transporting ONE HUNDRED and THIRTY-FIVE (135) irregular migrants. Four of whom are minors.

The interception was the result of a highly coordinated and complex maritime operation involving several key local and international partners. Participating agencies included the TCI Border Force, TCI Regiment, and multiple RT&CIPF units, including the Maritime Operations Centre (MOC) Coast Radar Team, Sirius Insight, the Incident Command System, and Maritime Operations personnel.

The operation was further strengthened through the support and collaboration of the United States Coast Guard (Air Support Unit).
This latest interception brings the total number of illegal migrants intercepted at sea in 2026 to EIGHT HUNDRED and FIFTY-NINE (859) aboard SIX vessels.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Kendal Grant, who holds responsibility for Marine Operations noted the successful outcome of this operation underscores the importance of intelligence-led policing, interagency cooperation, and regional partnerships in safeguarding the borders of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

DCP Grant said, “This successful interception demonstrates what can be achieved through teamwork, coordination, and vigilance. I wish to thank all our local and international partners who contributed to this operation and continue to support our efforts to secure our maritime borders.”
The RT&CIPF asks the public to notify the nearest police station, call 911, or contact the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-477 to anonymously report any information about illegal entry into the TCI.
