Around 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) Tactical Unit responded to reports of a robbery in the Kew Town area involving two men travelling in a vehicle.
While conducting patrols, officers received further information about an attempted robbery in the Blue Hills area. The Tactical Unit immediately proceeded to the location to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the earlier robbery vehicle parked along the roadway.
As officers approached, two men ran to the vehicle, entered, and sped off, prompting a high speed pursuit along the Millennium Highway.
Despite officers activating flashing lights and sirens, the suspects refused to stop. During the chase, the men opened fire at the police, who, returned fire.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a swampy area near the Five Cays Roundabout. Two men exited the vehicle and again fired at officers before fleeing into nearby bushes. One suspect was apprehended, while the other escaped.
One officer sustained minor injuries during the operation and sought medical attention.
A search of the vehicle and its surroundings resulted in the recovery of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
