In commemoration of World Read Aloud Day, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force visited three schools within the TCI and engaged students in fun-filled reading activities.
World Read Aloud Day was celebrated on February 07th and holds immense importance as it celebrates the transformative power of reading aloud.
This year’s theme, “Discovering a Social-Emotional Lifeline Through Reading”, refers to finding support, connection and resilience through educational experiences. The annual event promotes literacy and fosters community, empathy, and understanding by encouraging students of all ages to read aloud and share stories.
Reading is the gateway to transforming lives. Moreover, reading aloud strengthens communication skills, boosts confidence, and cultivates a lifelong love. Sharing such passion with students was a pleasure, and I look forward to next year.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams visited the SNAP Center (Special Needs Association of Providenciales) and spent time reading, interacting and singing with students.
Other officers participating in Wednesday’s World Read Aloud initiative were Inspector Winston Diamond and Ag Sgt. Crystal Stubbs visited the Charles Hubert James Primary School in Kew North Caicos.
Constables Teran Spence, Krishanah Williams, and Estefani Diaz represented the RTCIPF at the Oseta Jolly Primary School in Blue Hills.
