The Royal Turks & Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) are investigating a fire that extensively damaged the top floor of the new administration block of the Helena Jones Robinson High School on Grand Turk earlier this morning.

At approximately 3.38am (Friday, January 29th, 2016) a report of a fire at H.J. Robinson High School was made to Grand Turk Police Station. Officers responded and on arrival, notice smoke coming from the roof of a two-story building located on the northern side of the compound, which house the Vice Principal’s Office.

The Fire Department arrived shortly afterwards and proceeded to extinguished the fire and managed to have the fire under control after 8 am.

The top floor was completely gutted by the fire while the ground floor was saved with only some water damage.

Police investigators are working along with personnel from the Fire Department so as to determine the cause of the fire and its origin.

Investigations continue into this matter.
