The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the Customs Department, and Border Force officers conducted road operations in Providenciales today (June 12th) and also on June 10th, to ensure that individuals are complying with the law.
This is in keeping with the mandate of “Operation Pursuit”.
During this morning’s operation along Airport Road, traffic checks for compliance with window tint regulations and vehicle identification plates were conducted.

The following are the results of this morning’s operations:
Traffic Stop/Vehicle Checks: One Hundred and Eighty-Six (186)
Traffic Tickets issued: THIRTY-EIGHT (38)
Tickets issued for Using Motor Vehicle Without Proper Identification Plates: EIGHTEEN (18)
Tickets Issued for unlicensed motor vehicles: SIXTEEN (16)
Failure to comply with a traffic sign: ONE (01)
Tickets Issued for Tinting of Windows and Windscreen: THREE (03)
Number of persons warned of intended prosecution for driving a motor vehicle without a license: THREE (03)
Number of persons warned of intended prosecution for driving a motor vehicle without insurance: SEVEN (07)
Number of vehicles towed: TEN (10)
Number of Persons detained for Immigration Purposes: FIVE (05)
June 10th, 2023, Operation
On June 10th, officers of the Tactical Unit, Response, and Operation and Border Force conducted operations at the Providenciales International Airport. Random checks and searches were conducted on passengers travelling from Haiti and Canada.
Fifteen males were detained for Immigration purposes;
Sixty-six pieces of luggage belonging to passengers were searched
Cannabis-infused candy was seized by Customs and the Passenger was fined under the Customs Ordinance;
A Vehicle Check Point was set up and resulted in ONE tint removal, ONE person warned of intended prosecution for Unlicensed Driving and No Insurance, and ONE vehicle was towed.
Operation Pursuit involves a Multi-Agency operational framework, designed to locate, identify, and process persons engaged in ALL illegal activities within the TCI. These operations entail a collaborative effort from all our essential partners at the re-established Turks Caicos Islands Joint Law Enforcement Group (J-LEG).

The RTCIPF wishes to remind motorists that vehicle windows must have the following minimum levels of visible light transmittance:
Front windscreen: Above 50%
Each front window; Driver and Passenger side windows: Above 50%;
Rear Windows and Windscreen: Above 30%.
If your vehicle’s tint does not meet these requirements, then under the Road Traffic Ordinance you commit a traffic violation and must pay the following:
TWO HUNDRED and FIFTY DOLLARS (250.00) PER WINDOW
