Successful Interception of an Illegal Vessel

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. yesterday (15 January 2026), the Marine Branch of the Royal Turks and
Caicos Islands Police Force detected an illegal migrant vessel on its way to Providenciales.

In a collaborative operation, the RT&CIPF effectively apprehended the boat. Supported by the
TCI Regiment Marine Unit, the unlawful vessel was brought to land.

ONE HUNDRED and FORTY-NINE (149) Haitian migrants were being illegally transported.

The breakdown is as follows: ONE HUNDRED and EIGHTEEN (118) males, including FIVE
minors and THIRTY-ONE (31) females, including ONE minor. The irregular migrants were
then handed over to the TCI Border Force for processing.

This interception marks another successful interdiction, reinforcing the commitment of all
involved to combat irregular migration. The RT&CIPF takes this opportunity to commend the
personnel involved for their dedication to border security and public safety.

The Force would like to remind the community that illegal migration poses severe dangers and
significantly endangers lives. Those embarking on these treacherous journeys frequently face
hazardous maritime conditions, such as overcrowded and unfit boats, leading to serious injuries.

Moreover, individuals who either assist or participate in illegal migration are directly
jeopardizing the security framework of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Such conduct will be met
with zero tolerance.

The RTCIPF asks the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime
Unit at 231-1842, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 to anonymously provide any information on
Illegal entry into the TCI.

Additionally, individuals are encouraged to download the Crime Stoppers P3 app to share
information anonymously.
