Man Convicted on Firearm and Ammunition Charges
JACQUELIN CADET of South Dock Road, Providenciales, was found guilty on Tuesday, 13 February 2024, of POSSESSION of FIREARM and POSSESSION of AMMUNITION.

Following the guilty verdict, Mr. Cadet, 44, is expected to be sentenced on March 21. The charges against Mr Cadet stemmed from a December 20, 2022 incident.
Around 4 am, officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force executed an Authority to Search for a firearm at Mr Cadet’s home.
During the search, a black 45 calibre handgun and ammunition were found inside a closet in his bedroom.
He was arrested and charged with the offences.
Superintendent in charge of the Serious Crimes Unit Dean Holden said: “Officers in the Serious Crime Unit should be proud of the hard work and professionalism executed that resulted in this conviction.
“As a police officer, it’s disheartening to see yet another individual found guilty of firearm possession. Firearms in the wrong hands pose a serious threat to public safety, and we have to ensure that those who choose to illegally possess them face consequences.
“The ramifications of firearm-related crimes extend far beyond the immediate incident, impacting communities and perpetuating a cycle of violence. Our work does not end with this conviction; we will continue our efforts to prevent illegal firearms from circulating.
“I urge anyone with information on illegal activities to call the nearest Police Station, 911, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842”.
