As part of the Grand Turk Community Beat Officer Program, Sergeant Martin, along with
Constables Higgs, Simlett, and Misick, conducted an island tour for elderly residents and
children from the Breezy Brae and Backsalina communities on February 7.

The group included Carmen Robinson and Susan Garland.

Ms. Robinson is the proprietress of the well-known Poop Deck fast food restaurant, while Ms.
Garland is recognized as the first Physical Education teacher in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Included in the tour were Ms. Elizabeth Dean and Ms. Ruth Parker. Participants expressed
appreciation for the opportunity to engage in a meaningful and educational experience.

The tour led by Austin Dickenson of Rainbow Tours, widely known as the “Donkey Whisperer,”
provided historical insight into Grand Turk and surrounding islands.

During the tour, participants learned about the history of donkeys and their role as a primary
means of transportation across the Turks Islands, including Grand Turk, Salt Cay, and South
Caicos, where donkey carts were once commonly used.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force remains committed to strengthening
community relationships and promoting positive engagement through initiatives such as the
Community Beat Officer Program.
