Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting, in expressing thanks to Officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF), said the policing of the election is a critical role the RTCIPF has to undertake. Free, open and fair elections are a cornerstone of a democratic society. How election day is managed can influence how the results are received and how the country moves forward.
The demands on Policing towards ensuring the elections were safe and secure, from the senior leaders planning and commanding to all of the officers and staff who work long hours in sometimes challenging circumstances, were significant and arduous.
Commissioner Botting said, “I have written to the RTCIPF team to say the feedback the Force has received is very positive indeed. From the Governor, party members, international election observers and the media. All of the comments were so complimentary about how you, the men and woman of the RTCIPF, undertook your important role in policing the Turks and Caicos Elections in 2021. The feedback included comments about how smart, friendly, engaged and positive every single Police Officer was throughout the long day at the policing stations”. Commissioner Botting added, “I want to thank you all for representing the Force, yourselves and the TCI in such a positive light. I am proud of the comments about the Force and proud of you for delivering a safe, secure and open election in a warm, friendly and engaging style. You did us all proud, thank you”.
