Accused Charged Following Road Fatality
SONY GUIRAND, 42, of Leeward Highway, Providenciales, has been charged following investigations by officers of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.
Mr Guirand was charged on July 24th with the following offence:
- One Count – Causing death by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Mr Guirand was granted $15,000 station bail with two sureties, pending his court appearance on August 08th, 2024.
The charge against the accused came after intensive investigations by officers of the Traffic Enforcement Unit following a June 23rd, 2024, vehicular incident.
Shortly after 2 am, the Police Control Room received a report of a collision involving three vehicles on the Leeward Highway near Pratts Road.
Upon the arrival of officers and medical personnel, it was observed that a female victim had succumbed to injuries. The victim was identified as Asia Dominique Kelley Greene, a visitor to the TCI.
