The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) today marked a significant milestone in strengthening
the nation’s maritime security capabilities with the official commissioning of two new marine vessels, Sea Guardian
II and Sea Protector II.


The commissioning ceremony was attended by Her Excellency the Governor, Dileeni Daniel Selveratnam;
Honourable Premier Charles Washington Missick; Her Excellency the Deputy Governor, Anya Williams. Deputy
Premiere Honourable Jamel Robinson ; Jamaica’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and
Peace, the Honourable Dr. Horace Chang; the Deputy Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands; Government
Ministers; Permanent Secretaries from the Turks and Caicos Islands; the Director of Public Prosecutions;
Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, Deputy Commissioner Rodney Adams; Jamaica’s Commissioner of Police, Dr.
Kevin Blake and Deputy Commissioner Warren Clarke; members of the Royal Turks and caicos Islands Police
Force Executive Team, Assistant Commissioners and other officers of rank and file of the force,distinguished
invited guests; and members of the media.

The addition of Sea Guardian II and Sea Protector II represents a major investment in maritime law enforcement and
border security. The vessels will enhance the Force’s ability to patrol territorial waters, combat illegal migration,
disrupt transnational organized crime, strengthen search and rescue operations, and respond more effectively to
incidents at sea.


Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Bailey highlighted the critical role maritime security plays in safeguarding
the Turks and Caicos Islands and noted that the new vessels significantly enhance the Force’s operational capability.
He underscored his vision of leaving a stronger and more modern Police Force, supported by sound policies,
enhanced capabilities, and sustainable systems, while reaffirming the RTCIPF’s commitment to utilizing its
maritime assets responsibly and in the best interests of the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In his remarks, Jamaica’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and Peace, The honourable Dr.
Horace Chang, emphasized the importance of strong regional partnerships in addressing increasingly complex
security threats. He commended the longstanding relationship between the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the
RTCIPF and reaffirmed Jamaica’s commitment to continued collaboration in advancing regional security and law
enforcement cooperation.

The commissioning also reflects the strong partnership among national and regional stakeholders committed to
strengthening maritime security and protecting the borders of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The RTCIPF expressed
gratitude to the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands and all partners whose support made the acquisition of
the vessels possible.


Both Her Excellency the Governor and the Honourable Premier commended the men and women of the RTCIPF for
their unwavering commitment to crime-fighting and public safety. They also reaffirmed their support for
Commissioner Bailey’s vision of building a modern, professional, and well-equipped Police Force capable of
meeting the evolving security needs of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
