The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) continues to strengthen its
relationship with communities through consistent engagement and visible policing initiatives
across the islands.

Yesterday, 17th March 2026, Acting Assistant Superintendent Kirton Sutton, along with Acting
Sergeant Desiree Forbes, Constables Elliot Brown, Sandenia Francis, and Romaine Martin,
conducted a walkabout in the Kew Town community.

During the patrol, officers visited several businesses and spoke with store owners and residents
in the area.

The initiative forms part of the Force’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a strong and
reassuring presence within communities.

While interacting with residents, Constables Brown and Francis also received an unexpected yet
insightful lesson from an elderly resident harvesting Ricinus communis, commonly known as the
castor bean or castor oil plant. The resident shared knowledge about the plant and the many
traditional uses of its dried pods, highlighting the value of community interactions and the
sharing of local knowledge.

Meanwhile, in Grand Turk, Constable Stenia Simlett visited the New Testament Church of God
Day Care Center located on Orea Alley.

During the visit, she spent time engaging with the students and staff as preparations were
ongoing for their upcoming Sports Day event. Constable Simlett joined in a brief rehearsal for
their Sack Race.

The RT&CIPF remains committed to building trust and strengthening partnerships with residents
through consistent community engagement and positive interactions.
