The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) continues to conduct enforcement operations across the islands. Despite ongoing efforts, several motorists remain non-compliant with the rules of the road.

The RT&CIPF reminds members of the public that obstructing police officers in the lawful execution of their duties is a criminal offence and may result in arrest. This includes threatening behaviour, the use of obscene or abusive language, or any actions that interfere with officers while they are carrying out their responsibilities.

Operation Safe Passage was conducted over a two days, from 25–26 February 2026, with the assistance of the Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force. During the operation, officers observed multiple instances of jitney operators dropping off passengers at unsafe distances from designated areas, creating potential traffic hazards and posing safety risks to commuters and other road users.

The RT&CIPF maintains a zero-tolerance approach toward such conduct and remains committed to ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and promoting responsible road use across the islands.
Operational Results (25-26th February,2026)

- Sixty-Seven traffic checks conducted
- One Hundred and Eighty-Nine immigration status checks completed
- Twelve traffic tickets were issued for various offences
- Twenty-six suspected jitneys impounded, demonstrating firm enforcement against noncompliant public service transportation operators

The data demonstrates a strong and visible enforcement presence, with targeted interventions focused on traffic safety violations, particularly unsafe and illegal public transportation practices. The twenty-six (26) vehicles were towed pursuant to Section 44(1)(e) of the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 13.01), on suspicion of being operated as public service vehicles without the required licence.
