As Hurricane Melissa approaches, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) has invoked its standing orders for hurricane preparedness and response.
Normal policing duties will continue until the conditions render it unsafe to do so.
Following the passage of the system, officers will reorganize and redeploy to ensure that all islands remain secure and safeguarded.
Additional police assets and personnel will be strategically deployed across the islands as necessary, to support recovery efforts.
If there is no urgent need to be outdoors, please remain indoors until authorities declare it safe to venture outside.
Members of the public are strongly urged to follow all instructions issued by the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) and to download the DDME app to stay informed about the latest advisories.
The RT&CIPF will actively support other essential services and maintain a visible presence at high-risk shelters to ensure safety, order, and the protection of lives and property.
