The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) is aware of a short clip,  approximately ten seconds long, currently circulating on social media, which appears to depict part of the incident involving visitors to Grand Turk and police officers.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. today, a distressed employee entered the Grand Turk Cruise Centre (GTCC) Police Post and reported an ongoing physical altercation at a nearby poolside. Police assistance was requested immediately.

Three officers responded to the scene and, upon arrival, observed a large crowd gathered near the pool, where a commotion was in progress involving two primary individuals. Security personnel on duty identified the aggressors to the responding officers.

As officers attempted to detain the individuals, one of whom was a 39-year-old male, he began to resist arrest. Several others, believed to be associated with him, interfered by pushing and pulling at the officers during the arrest. Amid the commotion, a female officer was assaulted by an unidentified woman and suffered a minor injury to her left arm.

Despite multiple verbal warnings from officers, individuals connected to the aggressors continued to interfere during the arrest and transport.

Two males, aged 39 and 45, were detained for fighting in a public place and transported to the  GTCC Police Post for further processing.

Both men were later spoken to by officers and escorted back to their cruise ships. The matter was reported to the ship’s security personnel for continued monitoring.

Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey has ordered an investigation into the incident.
