The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (Traffic Enforcement Unit) is investigating a single-vehicle traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, 10th May 2025, at the junction of South  Dock Road and Chalk Sound Drive, near the Chalk Sound Police Station.

Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle travelling south collided with the gate at Sun Oil Ltd,  causing significant damage to the perimeter fence, a directional sign, and the fire hydrant system’s piping. 

A 45-year-old male passenger sustained serious head injuries, including a cracked skull. He was transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and was subsequently airlifted abroad for advanced medical treatment. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old male, was arrested on suspicion of driving with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit. 

He remains in custody and has not yet been charged with any offence.
