For Emergency, Call 9-1-1

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) has concluded a key phase of its investigation into suspicious emails sent to six schools across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The initial report, received on Tuesday, April 23, 2025, prompted immediate action. The  RT&CIPF Intelligence Unit, with support from foreign law enforcement counterparts, launched a comprehensive investigation to trace the origin of the messages.

Following these efforts, we can confirm that the emails were a hoax and that no credible threats were involved.

As part of the investigation, a teenage male student was interviewed yesterday (28th April)  afternoon in the presence of his parents. While the investigation remains ongoing, the minor remains a person of interest in connection with the incident.

The RT&CIPF strongly urges parents and guardians to discuss with their children the serious consequences of making threats, even if intended as a joke. Such actions can cause unnecessary alarm, disrupt educational activities, and lead to psychological repercussions.

We thank the public and the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture for their patience and cooperation as we continue to ensure the safety and well-being of all.
