The Royal Turks and Caicos Police in Providenciales will be charging a male subject today Wednesday 1st June 2011 for Theft and Unlawful Entry. This is connection with an incident which occurred on Friday 27th May 2011 at approximately 8.25pm along Grace Bay road Providenciales. The suspect individual was witnessed to steal a hand bag from a tourist by an off duty Detective who was in the company of his wife. The off duty police officer instinctively responded by giving chase and apprehended the suspect behind Danny Buoy’s Restaurant and bar.
This act was applauded by the tourist who was able to get back her hand bag with all its contents. The male suspect is schedule to appear in the Providenciales Magistrate’s Court # 2 on Thursday 2nd June 2011 to answer to those charges.
On Wednesday 31st May 2011 about 12.53 pm the Royal Turks and Caicos Police received a complaint of a Robbery at Nell’s gift shop on Leeward Highway Providenciales. It was reported that two armed masked individuals robbed the business of a quantity of cash and cell phones and utilized a vehicle to make good their escape. Police were able to apprehend one of the robbers within an hour and is looking for the second suspect who is known to Police.
On Wednesday 31st May 2011 at approximately 9.00pm in Kew Town in vicinity of the Ball Park Providenciales two off duty Detectives witnessed a male subject attempting to snatch a hand bag from a female who screamed for help. The Detectives ran to her assistance with one of them staying with the victim while the other gave chase and subsequently apprehended the male subject in the vicinity of ACE Plumbing in Kew Town Providenciales. This individual will be charged for Attempted Theft.
The victim commended the Police for coming to her assistance and being able to apprehend the culprit.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Police in Grand Turk are investigating an Aggravated Burglary which occurred on Saturday 28th May 2011 about 4.30am in Breezy Brea, Grand Turk. This incident resulted in injuries to a male that required hospitalization. A male subject is presently in police custody and the investigation is continuing.
