On Monday 2nd October 2017, 18 members of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force took up new leadership roles within the Force following their promotion. Seven (7) officers were promoted to the rank of Inspector and eleven (11) officers moved up to the rank of Sergeant following their promotions by the Commissioner of Police.

All of those promoted were successful through a promotion exam and interview procedure, the first such selection procedures conducted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force since 2008.

Those promoted to Inspectors are Dwayne Baker, Drexel Porter, Ensa Wilson, Kemron Lowhar, Lionel Mapp, Neal Stanislaus and Winston Diamond; and promoted to Sergeants are Anthony Cumberbatch, Dakota Smith, Damien Mitchell, Delton Robinson, Inga Taylor, Jerry Grant, Kevin Clarke, Latoya Rigby, Lavern Seymour, Sabuton John and William Lightbourne.

Commenting on the promotions, Commissioner of Police James Smith said, “Congratulations to each of these competent, capable and talented officers on their promotion.Their new roles are vital to the continued success of the force and our ability to properly deploy our resources. These promotions complete a radical review of Force supervisory needs and will ensure effective 24/7 operational management of our uniform resources.”
