For Emergency, Call 9-1-1

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police has appointed Takara Bain as new Communications Officer, taking over from Sergeant Kevin Clarke, who has been serving in that capacity, for the last three years.

Bain, who is a Grand Turk native, boasts extensive public relations and communications skills, starting her career as a radio personality and news anchor for Radio Turks and Caicos. She has since held the position of Journalist and Anchor Woman for WIV Channel 4 News, Public Relations and Marketing Manager for the TCI Hospital and most recently, Head of Marketing for Digicel TCI.

Acting Commissioner, Trevor Botting said, “Ms. Bain brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked in public relations, journalism and marketing for more than ten years. Her addition to the RT&CIPF team is just one of the ways we plan to strengthen our community engagement and overall communications internally and externally.”

Botting added, “The strategic priorities for the RT&CIPF include enhancing our engagment with our communities and building public confidence in the Police Force and Ms. Bain will take the lead on the communications element of this work.”

Speaking on the new appointment, Bain said, “It will be a challenging role and I am very much looking forward to that challenge. There is a great deal of good work being done by the police and it’s important that it is communicated to the public”.

Bain added, “This is a positive and progressive step and I look forward to a long and successful association with the Police Force”.

Bain has a Baccalaureate Degree in Radio, Television and Internet Media from Lynn University in Boca Raton, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Marketing.
